Photos save on your phone first and upload to your account when there is signal. Open Goose with signal and leave it open for a minute. A photo that has not uploaded yet is still safe on the phone; download your records to keep a copy.
Goose only works tax from the rate table IFTA, Inc. publishes for that exact quarter. IFTA, Inc. posts each quarter's table during the quarter's last month, and Goose picks it up by itself without an app update.
Plans are billed by the App Store or Google Play, which handle cancelling and refunds themselves. iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions. Android: Google Play, your profile, Payments and subscriptions. Details on the pricing page. Pricing.
In Goose: Settings, Delete account. Without the app, use the delete account page on this site. Both remove the account, every record and every receipt photo. Download your records first: IFTA asks you to keep them for four years. Delete account page.
The International Fuel Tax Agreement between the 48 contiguous US states and the 10 Canadian provinces. Instead of paying fuel tax to every state you drive through, you hold one IFTA license from your base jurisdiction and file one quarterly return there. The return works out how much fuel you burned in each jurisdiction from your miles, compares it with the tax you already paid at the pump, and settles the difference.
A motor carrier running a qualified motor vehicle across state or provincial lines. A qualified motor vehicle is used, designed or maintained to carry people or property, and has two axles and a gross vehicle weight or registered weight over 26,000 pounds (11,797 kg), or three or more axles at any weight, or is used in a combination over 26,000 pounds. Your base jurisdiction decides the details, so check its IFTA manual if you are close to a line.
The last day of the month after each quarter ends: April 30 for January to March, July 31 for April to June, October 31 for July to September, and January 31 for October to December. When that day falls on a weekend or a legal holiday, the return is due the next business day. Goose shows the due date on every quarter.
Yes. While you hold an IFTA license, a return is due every quarter, including a quarter with no miles. File it showing zero.
A late return costs the greater of $50 or 10% of the net tax due, plus interest on any tax owed. The $50 applies even when you owe nothing or are due a credit. Repeated late filing can lead to the license being revoked.
For each trip: the date, where it started and ended, the route, the beginning and ending odometer readings, the total miles and the miles in each jurisdiction, and the truck's unit number. For each fuel purchase: the date, the seller's name and address, the gallons, the fuel type, the price, and the unit number. Keep them for four years from the return's due date or the date you filed it, whichever is later.
You bought more fuel in that jurisdiction than you burned there, so you already paid more of its tax at the pump than you owe. The difference is a credit. Your base jurisdiction nets credits against what you owe elsewhere on the same return.
A few jurisdictions add a surcharge on the gallons burned there, on top of the regular fuel tax. It is charged on taxable gallons, not on net gallons. Goose adds it from that quarter's published rate matrix.
No. Goose prepares the return laid out for your base jurisdiction, and you enter it on your base jurisdiction's site or send it to whoever files for you. Goose never holds your tax account login.
Any card whose statement you can save as a PDF or CSV, or copy as text. Goose does not connect to fuel card companies. It reads what your card already gives you: paste the statement or a CSV export, or photograph a receipt at the pump. It checks what it read against the total the statement prints.
Put in where a load started and ended. Goose routes it as a truck and splits the miles at every state line. You can also type miles for a jurisdiction directly. When routing is not reachable, Goose can estimate a route, and that trip is labelled Estimated everywhere it appears.
Because the miles came from a route between the places you entered, not from an odometer reading taken at each state line. Goose labels that honestly on the screen and on every export. Miles backed by an odometer reading at each state line are labelled documented.
Goose only calculates tax from the rate matrix IFTA publishes for that exact quarter, and that quarter's matrix is not loaded yet. It still counts your miles, gallons and MPG. It never estimates a rate.
Yes. Pick the year and quarter at the top. The year menu goes back ten years. Goose rebuilds that quarter with its own rate matrix, for every quarter whose matrix Goose holds. The amended return itself is filed with your base jurisdiction.
Your records are kept on your phone, so entering fuel and miles works anywhere. Address search, routing and syncing to your other devices need a connection and catch up when you have one.
No. Choose Use Goose on this phone and every record stays on the phone: fuel, miles, GPS loads, the quarter and the return all work. An account adds a copy on Goose's server, sync to your other phones, receipt photos kept in your account, and receipts read from the photo by Claude. Sign up whenever you like from Settings. Goose then asks what to do with the records on the phone: Add them to this account, or Leave them on the phone for use without an account.
You. Records stay on your phone until you sign up for a Goose account. Once you do, the records in your account are also kept in Goose's database, where only your own sign-in can reach them through Goose. Goose's operator can reach the database to run and repair the service, and does not look at your records unless you ask or the law requires it. Goose does not sell your data. The privacy policy in Settings has the details.
Yes. An IFTA audit can ask for your fuel receipts for four years, so every receipt you photograph is kept with that purchase on your phone. With a Goose account it is also kept in your account, where only your own sign-in can reach it through Goose. When you sign up, it goes into the account with its purchase if you choose Add them to this account. Tap Photo next to a purchase on the Fuel tab to see it. Download my records in Settings saves your records and every photo in one file. Removing a receipt removes its photo from this phone at once and from your account the next time Goose uploads photos. Keep the paper receipts too until the photo shows as saved to your account, and keep them if you have no account: the phone then holds the only copy.
Settings, then Delete account. It deletes your account, every record in it and every receipt photo, on Goose's server and on this phone, at once. A phone that was still signed in to the account removes its copy the next time Goose opens or syncs there. A phone that was signed out of the account before it was deleted keeps its copy until Goose is removed from it. Records of a purchase made through the App Store or Google Play are kept by Apple or Google. Without the app, log in at gooseifta.com/delete-account.html and delete it there. Using Goose without an account, Settings offers Erase my records from this phone instead. Download your records first from Settings, Preferences, if you want a copy: IFTA asks you to keep them for four years.
Check service status first: if something is down, it says so there. If not, email support@gooseifta.com with the phone you use and what you were doing when it went wrong.
